IMDC Company is an additional class that gives dancers the opportunity to perform in the community and exposes them to new experiences and opportunities in dance! IMDC Company dancers are invested in their dance education and work through the school year on rehearsing choreography, perfecting performance pieces, and entertaining audiences. Dancers who are ready to work hard and have a lot of fun are encouraged to join the dance company.

Most of our classes will be held during the week during our regularly scheduled class times. However, there may be some weeks that have extended, shorted, or cancelled rehearsals. We will send out a rehearsal calendar the month before (or earlier) so everyone knows the upcoming rehearsal schedule. The schedule varies according to what performances are approaching and what dance numbers are being rehearsed. We used paper notes, email reminders, and text reminders, to keep everyone informed and up to date on rehearsal and performance information.

Dancers are expected to be in dress code at all times for Company rehearsals. This includes a leotard, tights, all shoes (tap, jazz, ballet) and hair must be pulled back away from the face. Dance shorts or leggings are allowed over leotards.

Company dancers are expected to be invested in their dance education throughout the school year. We strive to provide our dancers with strong life skills such as self-esteem, teamwork, responsibility, time management skills, and dedication to excel both onstage and off. Company is a fun performance group, but we take our rehearsals and events seriously as we always want to put our best foot forward. Since Company has performances throughout the school year, attendance in Company rehearsals (and all other dance classes) is very important. Private lessons may be required for dancers who have missed excessive amounts of class and need extra rehearsal time. Chronic absences will put a dancer at risk to be removed from the performance. Dancers who are performing must be at the mandatory rehearsal in order to perform in the event. Please remember: Dance Company members and family members are ambassadors and representatives of In Motion Dance Center both at the studio and outside at performances and events. All dancers and family members are expected to act in a professional manner, including attitude, behavior, and language at the studio and at all events.

Enrolling in Dance Company class is just like enrolling in any other elective class and is added to your tuition. Some events and performances always have separate costs involved, but you will be notified of these costs on each performance permission slip, and can choose whether or not to participate. To help offset costs, Dance Company dancers have additional opportunities to fundraise. Company dancers will also have additional costumes for the year.
